What will it actually do for me?
It gives you back the games you grew up with, with no fuss. Pull it from your pocket, press power and you’re playing within about 20 seconds, wherever you are.
Who is it for?
Anyone who misses the games of their childhood, wants something better than scrolling on the commute, or needs a gift for the 90s kid in their life.
Which colour should I pick?
White is clean and classic, Black has a smoky see-through shell, and Purple has a translucent shell straight out of the 90s. They all play exactly the same.
What’s in the box?
The console, a 64 GB memory card with the games already fitted, a USB charging cable and a user guide. You’ll need a standard 5V USB plug, which isn’t included.
Do I need Wi-Fi, an app or an account?
No. There’s no Wi-Fi built in and none needed. There’s no app, no account and no subscription. The games are already on the memory card.

How many games are on it?
More than 15,000 across 21 game systems, from arcade classics to 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit favourites. You can browse by system, jump to a random game or search by name.
Can I save my game?
Yes, at any moment. Hold FN and press R1 to save, then FN and L1 to go back to that exact spot. Dinner’s ready? Your game can wait.
How long does the battery last?
Up to around 6 hours on a full charge. Simpler 8-bit and 16-bit games use less power than 3D ones, and a lower screen brightness makes it last longer.
How do I charge it?
Use the cable from the box in the port marked DC, with a standard 5V USB plug or a computer. Don’t use a fast USB-C to USB-C “PD” charger, as the console may not charge from it.
Can I use headphones?
Yes, there’s a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so you can play in peace and so can everyone around you.
Can I play it on my TV?
No, this one is made for your hands. If you’d like to play on the telly with two wireless controllers, have a look at the RetroParlour Classic.
Can two people play together?
The Retro Gameboy is made for playing on your own. For two players on one sofa, the RetroParlour Classic is the better choice.
Can I add my own games?
Yes, games you have the right to use can be added with a computer and a microSD card reader. There are two card slots, and the guide shows you how.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, with a grown-up nearby. Children aged 6 to 14 should play with adult supervision, and small parts and packaging should be kept away from children under 3.
